The CS5344-CZZR is a data acquisition device capable of the most accurate analog-to-digital (A/D) and digital-to-analog (D/A) conversions. This device offers high performance operation in demanding applications such as image acquisition, error-correction coding, storage, industrial control, and power management. As a member of the Analog Devices (AD) family of data acquisition products, the CS5344-CZZR provides outstanding performance and allows customers to meet the needs of their specific application.
The CS5344-CZZR is based on a delta-sigma (ΔΣ) topology which provides very high resolution and stability, including excellent noise performance. The core uses a switched-capacitor array to simultaneously measure multiple channels, allowing higher data throughput. This device also features an advanced digital signal processor (DSP) for performing high speed analog transfers, which provides additional versatility and fast operation. As with many other AD data acquisition products, the CS5344-CZZR utilizes an innovative architecture that minimizes jitter and other noise sources. This combination of high performance and controlled noise results in an ideal ADC/DAC solution for applications ranging from precision instrumentation to high order control.
Due to its combination of features and performance, the CS5344-CZZR is a great choice for both single-ended and differential input applications. The device is capable of sampling up to 50 kSps, capturing signals in the range of ±10 V DC or AC. Its power requirements can range from ±3 V – ±12 V DC and comes in a 0.5” x 0.5” package. Advanced features including power-down circuitry, active current work on a single supply voltage, and user selectable reference voltage make the CS5344-CZZR an ideal solution for portable and battery-operated applications.
The implementation of the delta-sigma topology requires a complex design, yet is simpler to use than other A/D conversion methods. Each channel has four pins – three digital pins used for data input and one analog input pin. The analog input can be either a single-ended or differential signal up to ±10V. Depending on the application, the user chooses the desired sampling rate and resolution. For sampling operations, the CS5344-CZZR uses a digital logic signal to sample the analog channel, convert it to a digital signal, and then store it into a register or memory. The delta-sigma topology allows for high resolution, wide dynamic range, and utilizes low power consumption.
99dB dynamic range and an accuracy of up to +13-bit resolution allow for extremely accurate data capture. The CS5344-CZZR also features a user-configurable gain adjustment, allowing for a wide range of input signals and optimization of dynamic range. This allows for optimal performance of the device for a variety of applications. Additionally, the CS5344-CZZR is capable of operating with very low power consumption. Idle current can be as low as 1 mA and typical power efficiency is 3 mW.
