1. Description
The CS5484-INZ is a high-accuracy, four-channel,energymeasurement analog front end. The CS5484 incorporates independent 4th order Delta-Sigmaanalog-to-digital converters for every channel, referencecircuitry, and the proven EXL signal processing core to provideactive, reactive, and apparent energy measurement. Inaddition, RMS and power factor calculations are available. Calculations are output through a configurable energy pulse,or direct UART/SPI™ serial access to on-chip registers. Instantaneous current, voltage, and power measurements arealso available over the serial port. Multiple serial options areoffered to allow customer flexibility. The SPI provides higherspeed, and the 2-wire UART minimizes the cost of isolationwhere required. Four configurable digital outputs provide energy pulses,zero-crossing, energy direction, and interrupt functions. Interrupts can be generated for a variety of conditionsincluding voltage sag or swell, overcurrent, and more. On-chipregister integrity is assured via checksum and write protection.The CS5484 is designed to interface to a variety of voltage andcurrent sensors including shunt resistors, currenttransformers, and Rogowski coils.On-chip functionality makes digital calibration simple andultra-fast, minimizing the time required at the end of thecustomer production line. Performance across temperature isensured with an on-chip voltage reference with low drift. Asingle 3.3 V power supply is required, and power consumptionis low at <13 mW. To minimize space requirements, theCS5484 is offered in a low-cost, 5 mm x 5 mm 28-pin QFNpackage.

4. Analog pin
The analog pin CS5484 has two differential inputs (VIN1±, VIN2±) for voltage input and two differential inputs (IIN1±, IIN2±) for current 1 and current 2 inputs. CS5484 also has two reference voltage pins (VREF±), and a bypass capacitor should be placed between them.
5. CPU clock output
A logic level clock output (CPUCLK) is provided at the crystal frequency to drive another CS5484 IC or external microcontroller. Writing '1' to the CPUCLK_ON bit of the Config0 register will enable the CPU clock output. After enabling the CPU clock output, it can only be disabled by power-on reset (POR) or writing '0' to the CPUCLK_ON bit. The hardware reset via pin /RESET or the software reset instruction via the serial interface will not disable the CPU clock output. Two-phase selection is provided on the CPUCLK pinthrough bit iCPUCLK in the Config0 register. Unlike the CPUCLK_ON bit, the iCPUCLK bit can be cleared by POR, hardware reset, software reset instruction, or register writing
6. Digital output
CS5484 provides four configurable digital outputs (DO1-DO4). They can be configured to output energy pulses, interrupts, zero crossings, or energy directions.
7. Analog-to-digital converter
All four input channels use a fourth-order delta-sigma modulator to convert the analog input into a one-bit digital data stream. The converter samples at the rate of MCLK/8. This high sampling rate provides a wide dynamic range and simplifies the design of anti-aliasing filters.
8. High pass and phase matched filters
An optional high-pass filter can remove any DC component from the selected signal path. Each power calculation includes a current and voltage channel. If HPF is enabled in only one channel, a phase matched filter (PMF) should be applied to the other channel to match the phase response of the HPF. For AC power measurement, high-pass filters should be enabled on the voltage and current channels.
