This oscillator utilizes the piezoelectric effect of the quartz crystal, an effect that is characterized by an electrical charge being generated in response to the mechanical stress applied to it. When the quartz crystal is driven with a high voltage from the oscillator circuit, it resonates at its natural frequency. The electrical output signal is picked up by the pick-off coil, and fed through a buffer stage before being amplified and outputted as an oscillation.The frequency stability of the CSX750FCC16000000T is one of its key features, and is achieved and maintained by using the temperature effects of the quartz crystal itself. The oscillator uses a “double-loaded” configuration, meaning that it uses two external components - the quartz crystal and a temperature compensating element - to achieve and maintain the desired frequency stability.
