Current Transducers are generally defined as devices that can measure and convert the amplitude of an electrical current into an equivalent electrical signal. The output can be monitored or measured for further analysis and/or decision making. The output can also be used to trigger processes and/or alarms based upon certain conditions being met.The CRT05000 is a current transducer that measures and converts an AC current of up to 500A. It can measure both sinusoidal and non-sinusoidal AC current. It utilizes a Hall Effect sensor which converts the AC current into a linear output. This output is then amplified and outputted as a linear voltage or current.The CRT05000 is widely used in industrial, commercial and residential settings. It is employed for applications such as industrial process control, HVAC plant monitoring, load monitoring/control, lightning protection, power quality monitoring, electric motor control and monitoring, generator control and monitoring, and emergency systems.The working principle of the CRT05000 is based around the Hall Effect. When an AC current is applied to the primary windings of the CRT05000, a longitudinal magnetic field is generated. As the AC current magnitude and/or direction changes, so does this magnetic field. The Hall Effect sensor is then able to measure this change and output an equivalent voltage or current signal that is proportional to the measured current. This output can then be amplified and converted to an equivalent voltage or current that can be monitored and/or acted upon.
