This programming adapter is based on a FTDI FT4232 M device which provides two serial connections and two asynchronous faster USB2.0 links that is suitable for data exchange with computers and microcontrollers. It is an efficient and convenient tool for data transfer and data processing.

The CX1025 Programming Adapter comprises four connectors that can be used for connecting four devices at the same time. The FTDI FT4232 M contains two USB2.0 Hi-Speed ports, two FTDI UART ports, one FTDI FIFO port, one GPIO port, one JTAG port and an SPI Flash port. The FT4232 is a low cost, low power solution which provides 5V or 3.3V power supply for external devices. Additionally, it has integrated high-speed USB2.0 HS signaling logic, fast reset options and three-wire handshake control for device initialization. Another feature is that it is backward compatible with legacy applications.

The CX1025 Programming Adapter is used to connect to various microcontrollers such as the Texas Instruments MSP430, Atmel AVR, ST Microelectronics STM32 and ARM Cortex M series. It is also compatible with different programming languages such as: AVFAS, Picoblaze,OpenOCD, IAR and CodeVision. Additionally, with its onboard programming algorithms, this programming adapter is capable of performing various tasks such as: Multi-Channel Asynchronous Serial bus interface, de-bounce time for switch inputs, flashing large files and RAM program memory dumps.

The CX1025 Programming Adapter uses FT4232’s to provide its working principles. First, the FT4232 is connected to the computer using the FTDI USB to Serial Adapter. Then, the programming algorithm is passed from the computer to the FT4232. This information is used to control the I/O, reset and other configuration pins of the FT4232 and the connected microcontroller. During the programming process, the FT4232 sends the instructions to the microcontroller and receives the information about the microcontroller’s status and memory. After the programming process is completed, the FT4232 sends the data back to the computer.
