IntroductionCY28419ZXCT is an advanced Clock/Timing Frequency Synthesizer designed for communications applications. It is designed for the wide range of applications from general-purpose frequency synthesizer to clock distribution applications. This paper will discuss the application fields and working principle of the CY28419ZXCT.Features The CY28419ZXCT features a wide range of clock frequencies and supply voltage. The device can operate over a -20°C to +85°C ambient temperature range. It also has a low jitter of <0.5ps peak-to-peak (PP). It supports max 6 outputs, Dual or Quad different outputs. The device supports I²C, SPI and USB control interface, which provides better flexibility and control, making the CY28419ZXCT a perfect choice for the clock distribution and frequency synthesis applications. Moreover, it features power saving Mode, power down and spread spectrum mode operation options. Applications The CY28419ZXCT can be used in a wide variety of clock/timing applications. It is designed for clocks distribution applications such as high definition/live streaming, IPTV, bidirectional communication networks, and digital recording environments. It is also well suited for the general-purpose frequency synthesizer such as broadcast equipment, digital video servers, laptops and other complex digital system applications. The CY28419ZXCT also has the high-stability and low-jitter performance for the frequency synthesizer applications. Its low jitter of <0.5ps PP makes it ideal for medical imaging or circuit test-equipment. The CY28419ZXCT supports a clock spread mechanism to reduce the total harmonic distortion, making it applicable in clock signal signal modulation applications.Working PrincipleTheCY28419ZXCT Clock/Timing Frequency Synthesizer uses an input frequency to generate an output frequency. Inside the device, an oscillator is used to generate a clock signal. This signal is then sent to the PLL to modulate and lock the signal. The modulated signal is then output to an output divider, which is used to generate the desired output frequency. The output divider can also be programmed to achieve different phase settings for each output of the device. The CY28419ZXCT can operate in two different modes, FSK and SSM. In FSK mode, the output frequency settings are programmed via I²C, SPI or USB. The device will automatically switch between the programmed frequencies.
