The CY28551LFXC is an application specific clock. It is a functional PLL that generates and distributes low jitter timing signals for the system it is deployed in. The CY28551LFXC is used for applications such as networking, backplanes, communications, and commercial and industrial systems. It is designed to cope with the wide range of clock requirements found in these and other applications.The CY28551LFXC can be used in a wide range of applications, including but not limited to, as a clock source for baseband and wideband transceivers, data storage systems, networking, and backplanes. The CY28551LFXC can also be used for providing clock and timing signals for communications, industrial, commercial and medical applications. The device is optimized for applications where low jitter and high frequency clocks are needed. The CY28551LFXC is constructed on a 4-die Multi-Mode 3.2VCMOS process. The device features a 32-bit arbiter, which ensures low jitter in the output clocks. The CY28551LFXC also features multiple levels of flexibility and programmability. It has programmable input signal rates, power management and software-controlled modulation parameters such as input signal type, signal spectrum, modulation rate and spread characteristics/resonator parameters. This flexibility allows the CY28551LFXC to meet a wide range of clock requirements in small and large devices. The CY28551LFXC supports a wide range of frequency ranges, from 8kHz to 66MHz. Clock outputs are available from 19.6MHz to 800MHz, based on input signals ranging from 8kHz to 66MHz. Output clocks can also be programmed to run at a 50% duty cycle.The CY28551LFXC can be used in a "demodulating" application where a clock signal is generated from a modulated input signal. The ratio of the input signal rate to the output signal rate is user-controlled and can be programmed in 1-step increments. This modulating function can be used to produce different frequency rates that are required in a variety of applications.The CY28551LFXC is designed to allow low jitter operation in its output clocks, even under strenuous operating conditions. This is accomplished by the spread-spectrum capability of the PLL, which allows the device to adapt to different clock environments without experiencing jitter issues. The device also features on-chip ESD protection as well as built-in power supply and voltage control voltage tracking. This allows the CY28551LFXC to reduce power consumption and circuit area requirements, thus reducing overall system costs. The CY28551LFXC is a highly versatile and cost-effective clock solution for system designs that require a wide range of clock rates and low jitter performance. It is ideal for applications in the communications, industrial, commercial and medical systems. Its spread-spectrum capability allows it to adapt to different clock environments without experiencing jitter issues. In addition, the device is highly optimized for providing low jitter clocks at higher frequencies.
