CY2XL11ZXC represents a high-performance, low-cost clock generator, phase-locked loop (PLL) and frequency synthesizer integrated circuit (IC). It is suitable for a wide range of microprocessors and digital controllers to provide accurate frequency synthesis and synthesizer output signals. It has the capability to switch frequencies within a wide range of 200 kHz to 4.8 GHz.

Working Principle
The operation of the CY2XL11ZXC includes a combination of a fractional-N PLL followed by a high resolution DDS (Direct Digital Synthesiser). Its PLL block is based on a conventional charge-pump design with a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO). The VCO is a distortionless ring oscillator with a wide tuning range that operates from 0 to 4.8 GHz while simultaneously providing very low spurious and harmonic signals. Furthermore, the CY2XL11ZXC has a wide range of programmable outputs such as power frequency, high resolution clock (HRC), low jitter clock (LJC), enhanced clocking pulse (ECP), high precision clock (HPC), and asynchronous clock (ACLK).
The DDS in the CY2XL11ZXC includes a high speed multiplication element, an adjustable accumulator and a high speed DAC, in addition to an optional ROM block for providing programmable discrete frequencies. The accumulator in the DDS output signal can be adjusted in a range of increments from 0 to 0.9999 to generate a precise signal frequency without having to re-compute values over a large range of signal frequencies. Furthermore, the LJC output signals are kept low by using an internal jitter attenuation module.
Finally, the CY2XL11ZXC has several features such as configurable clock division, programmable clock output skew, digital lock port (DLP) interface, and a linear voltage ramp. It also integrates several outputs that are optimized to reduce the system\'s overall operating power.
