CY4638

The CY4638 RF Evaluation and Development Kit, Board is a high-performance, low-cost transceiver evaluation and development board from Cypress. It is designed to help RF designers evaluate, demonstrate, and optimize Cypress Radio Frequency (RF) transceiver products. The board includes two Cypress CY411 transceivers, a Cypress CY245 transceiver, and a Cypress CY148 transceiver.

The board has a total of eight different operational modes. The CY411 transceiver has two different modes: Standard and Master mode. The Standard mode provides a single path to either transmit or receive information. In the Master mode, more than one receiver and/or transmitter can be used to create a multi-way communications link. The CY245 transceiver has four operating modes: Standard, Enhanced, Diversity, and Master modes. In the Standard mode, the transceiver acts as a single path receiver or transmitter. The Enhanced mode allows for greater data throughput by providing multiple paths. The Diversity mode enables the transceiver to utilize two different antennas to achieve optimal results even in cases where one of the antennas has weaker signal strength. Lastly, the Master mode provides a multi-way link with up to four devices.

The CY148 transceiver has the same four modes as the CY245, but the operating channels can be individually set for the best performance. Additionally, the board has an audible outputs mode which allows for a quick identification of the signal presence and strength through the use of an external speaker. This mode is very convenient when designing systems with multiple transmitters and receivers. It provides the RF designer with details on the different transmitters and receivers that are in the system, allowing for easier debugging and troubleshooting.
