Cy9266-C Application Field and Working PrincipleThe Cy9266-C is part of Cyclone V’s Evaluation and Demonstration Boards and Kits. This particular board is designed for use in digital communication applications and to demonstrate the features and capabilities of its associated Cyclone V FPGA. Cy9266-C is a direct-to-rack, 3-channel QDR-IV SRAM kit that includes a high-bandwidth memory interface, a 100MHz LVDS-compatible oscillator, and a multi-protocol configurable FPGA.The board includes two 125MHz, 16-lane full-duplex transceivers, two USB interfaces, and two full-duplex, serial-LVDS transceivers. These components allow the board to be configured for a range of digital communication applications such as Ethernet, Serial Rapid IO (SRIO), and XAUI. The board also includes various on-board communications and test tools such as a USB-Blaster, dual multiprotocol transceivers, and PCI Express endpoints.The Cy9266-C is a comprehensive design solution bundled with comprehensive documentation, example code, test and measurement suites, and reference designs. It also includes a high-level benchmark test suite for validating basic operation of third-party FPGA designs. The kit comes fully equipped with all the necessary components and development tools to quickly demo, debug, and program the Cyclone V FPGA.The Cyclone V FPGA includes an array of signal processing components such as a High-Speed Multiplier Core, optimized C/C++ libraries, and a Clock Regulated Power Management Architecture for on-chip power optimization. In addition, the FPGA includes a dedicated Power Analyzer and Functional Interface Checker for precisely managing its on-chip functions. By combining the efforts of the user and the hardware design teams together, a custom system can be developed with precise accuracy and validation analysis.The cycle-accurate nature of the Cyclone V FPGA also ensures the consistent and reliable performance of the real-time system, even when it encounters extreme conditions. With overlapping power frames, improved power saving techniques, and built-in support for DSP functions, the Cy9266-C is designed to maximize processor performance and reliability while keeping the total power consumption within bounds.In addition to accessing the board’s basic features through the built-in USB ports, the Cyclone V FPGA can be further controlled through a suite of software tools. All these tools can be accessed through the FPGA Programming Tool, which is a comprehensive graphical interface to enable the user to configure, program, simulate, and optimize the FPGA design.The performance of the Cyclone V FPGA is enhanced further with the use of dedicated HDL tools, such as Signus IDE, for setting up and debugging HDL code. This platform enables users to rapidly create refined HDL descriptions with precise control and hierarchical organization of the data and logic.To complete the package, the Cy9266-C Evaluation and Demonstration Board and Kit also includes free Altera CPAN software for easy programming of the Cyclone V FPGA.
