Working Principle
CYDP1545 runs on the Propeller P8X32A MCU (microcontroller) made by the Parallax Corp. It combines eight 32-bit RISC (reduced instruction set) processors into one chip. Each processor contains three components: an 8-bit microcontroller (COG), a 8-bit I/O processor (LMM) and a shared RAM (SRAM).
The system is programmed using the Parallax proprietary C-like language, Spin. Spin programs are compiled, letting users take full advantage of static analysis, such as syntax checking and type checking among others. This helps user to develop a program quickly.
The CYDP1545 kit has a USB-to-serial port converter, which allows communication between the main computer and the CYDP1545 board. The USB connector is on the Propeller chip and enables rapid programming and debugging.
Devices connected to the Propeller chip, such as sensors, actuators and other components can be controlled from the main computer via the USB port. This makes it easy to develop complete applications without needing to use external components.
