Snap Action, Limit Switches and the D4N-1A31RSnap action is a general term for a switching technology by which a switch is actuated by an spring energised lever arm. The lever arm responds to a manual (or actuating force) and to an external force generated by the machine or process it is controlling. In the case of the D4N-1A31R, it is a limit switch configured with a snap action contact mechanism. Limit switches act as safety devices in mechanical and electrical systems. They serve to limit the travel or motion of a mechanical device, preventing it from over-travelling beyond a pre-set limit. Functionally, a limit switch is designed to shut off the power supply or machine automatically when preset limits are exceeded. In many cases, this involves an electrical switch that is actuated mechanically as the device reaches its pre-set limit. A limit switch is generically comprised of an actuating head and lever, a contact mechanism, plus a stationary body or housing. The actuating lever is usually rigged to be moved by the linear or rotary motion of the mechanical machine or device that it is controlling. When the lever moves to the point where it interrupts that device’s motion, the contact mechanism is engaged, throwing the switch to either an open or closed state. The D4N-1A31R is a limit switch that is suitable for a number of applications such as starting and stopping conveyors and pumping systems. It is made by Omron, manufactured in accordance with international safety standards and able to withstand harsh industrial applications. The switch’s design incorporates a snap action contact mechanism that incorporates two SPDT contacts with a life of up to 10 million operations. Operated at a low voltage and current of 0.3A at 24V, it has a travel range of 1mm to 5mm and is designed to with a spring return. The actuating force ranges from 1.2N to 4.5N and the temperature range is -25°C to 85°C.The device is ideal for industrial applications such as automotive assembly lines, food processing, machine tooling, and material-handling conveyors. It can also be used in robotics and automation tasks. Additionally, due to its ability to withstand extreme temperatures and dustproof enclosure (IP67/ NEMA 6P) it is also suitable for use in damp and corrosive environments. When looking for industrial switches it’s important to choose switches that are suitable for the specific application. The D4N-1A31R limit switch from Omron is an excellent choice for a variety of applications due to its robust construction, its high switching frequency and its snap action contact mechanism. With its robust construction and snap action contact mechanism, the switch is able to provide reliable performance in a range of applications. The specific data is subject to PDF, and the above content is for reference
