Evaluation and demonstration boards and kits are designed to help engineers and students understand, evaluate, and develop with electronic components. The DA7217-EVAL is one such board and features a low-power, audio system input with auxiliary logic, and is a type of sound processor. It is commonly used for audio processing, such as for hearing aids, headsets, and other audio devices. This article will review the application field and working principle of the DA7217-EVAL board.
The DA7217-EVAL board is designed for the evaluation of the following systems: low power, high-resolution audio codecs with PCM (Pulse-Code Modulation) filters, low-power day/night and Do Not Disturb (DND) processing, and low power digital signal processing (DSP). It is also capable of prototyping systems with low voltage analog to digital converters (ADCs) and digital to analog converters (DACs). This board is designed to take the guesswork out of audio processing by providing a way to quickly and easily experiment and develop with the DA7217 codec and low power audio features.
The DA7217-EVAL is powered by an on-board microcontroller and contains several connectors, as well as two digital inputs, 16MHz crystal and 16.67MHz audio clock oscillator. It is programmed with the Atmel ATmega328p, and is programmed with the Arduino IDE (Integrated Development Environment). This allows the user to directly use the board as an external hardware module, controlled, monitored and/or programmed via the Arduino environment. This allows the user to access and program the components of the board from the comfort of their computer, without having to use external hardware or a separate power source.
The working principle of the DA7217-EVAL board is fairly straightforward. It takes in analog audio signals, processes them digitally, and then outputs the digital audio information via the board\'s multiple channels. The board converts it\'s analog inputs, such as microphone signals, into digital audio which is then processed via the board\'s DSP. The board then outputs the digital audio information to either an external DAC or to another source, such as headphones, speakers, etc. This is done via the multiple connectors, such as the line level RCA connectors, mini-jack connectors, etc.
In addition to the analog-to-digital conversion and audio processing, the DA7217-EVAL also supports the development of auxiliary logic. The board supports two digital inputs (I2C, USB and UART) and outputs such as GPIOs, which allow the user to add additional logic and functions to the board. This is done through the use of supplemental shields, which are designed specifically for the DA7217-EVAL board and adds support for external devices and logic. Examples of this include the PIC16F88 microcontroller and the Atmel ATmega328p.
The DA7217-EVAL board is a powerful, low power board that can provide a great development platform for a variety of audio processing systems. It has a wide range of applications and can be used to prototype audio systems for hearing aids, headsets, and other audio devices. The board supports audio processing with PCM filters, day/night processing, auxilary logic, and even low voltage ADCs and DACs. The board supports two digital inputs (I2C, USB and UART), multiple connectors, and can be programmed via the Arduino environment. The board is an ideal tool for teaching, evaluation, and development of audio systems.
