Working Principle

The DAC161S055CISQX/NOPB is a serial-input, dual-channel current source digital-to-analog converter (DAC). It provides differential, low-side current sources that can be configured for many typical current loop applications. The DAC provides ±2 LSB integral linearity. It has an input digital resolution of 12-bits, adjustable output current range from 1 mA to 8 mA and a supply voltage range of 4.5V to 5.5V.

The DAC161S055CISQX/NOPB allows the user to set an external reference voltage. This is made possible by two selectable 0.1% precision resistors, manufactured on the same die as the DAC core, and two external analog sources connected to the processor through a standard SPI interface. The output current is controlled by a 12-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC). The output is available in two options, a differential signal or a single-ended signal, which can be connected directly to a signal conditioning circuit or other analog devices. The DAC core also contains a temperature sensor that can be used to compensate the temperature drift of the output current.
