Digital to analog converters (DACs) are electronic devices based on transistors, resistors, capacitors, and diodes that convert digital signals to analog ones. The DAC5674EVM application field and the working principle are a type of evaluation board from Texas Instruments. This board comprises of a single DAC5674EVM channel Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) with an integrated voltage reference. The part is suited for industrial, automotive, medical and consumer applications.

The DAC5674EVM evaluation board comes with base board, external components for DAC control and an instruction manual. The board\'s pinout and configuration makes it simple to connect the control signals (CLKAN, CSN, DOUT & RSET). The board operates in an array of power supply conditions including single channel single differential, dual channel single differential and single channel dual differential. The signal to noise ratio (SNR) of the board is 62 dB and the harmonic distortion plus noise (THD + N) is -102 dB.

The DAC5674EVM board features differential nonlinearity (DNL) of ±1 LSB and monotonic integral nonlinearity (INL) of ±1.5 LSB. The power consumption of the entire system is 0.5 W and the board comes with a power good reset flag indicating the power is good for the board. The internal output amplifier on the board comes with offset and gain adjust pins allowing the user to perform digital trim and calibration.

The board supports an industry standard SPI/QSPI serial interface capable of speeds up to 50 MHz. This is used to control the power up/down, reset, reference inputs and address-data phase of the devices. The DAC chipsets come integrated with simple instructions for programming and communication. The board also has differential voltage sense pins for monitoring the source and load voltages.

The DAC5674EVM board comes with the capability of different operating modes. These include buffered voltage output, buffered current output, unbuffered voltage output, current limit mode, voltage monitor, and thermometer. The board also features thermal protection circuitry and programmable digital, analog and logic output levels. The working principle of the DAC5674EVM board is based on a voltage reference which is created using the Chip\'s internal or external references. The binary number is then sent to the input of the DAC chip where based on the state of the input binary number, the output voltage either increments or decrements.
