The Texas Instruments DAC80004EVM is an Evaluation Board designed to evaluate the operation of the DAC80004 Quad-Channel Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) product family. It is a flexible evaluation system which provides access to all of the features of the DAC80004, enabling customers to evaluate the full range of DAC80004 features and performance.
The DAC80004EVM contains several evaluation boards and a development board connected together. The evaluation boards feature a wide range of hardware configurations to enable a variety of design targets. Each of the evaluation boards includes one or more input connectors to enable the connection of the input source. Additionally, the evaluation boards are connected together and also to the development board, which provides a means for controlling certain features of the system.
The DAC80004EVM is an advanced evaluation system for evaluating the performance of the DAC80004 Quad-Channel Digital to Analog Converter product family. It allows customers to evaluate and characterise the full range of features and performance of the DAC80004 product family, including analog and digital performance and power dissipation. It allows customers to quickly develop prototype designs utilising the latest technology, too.
The DAC80004 Quad-Channel Digital to Analog Converter provides four fast, low-power Digital to Analog Conversion (DAC) channels, offering excellent dynamic performance and dynamic range with a high accuracy output. The DAC80004 has an onboard power supply which is capable of converting up to 5V input into a low-voltage +1.2V, +2.5V and +3.3V output at up to 3A each. The DAC80004 also has a dedicated resolution control, temperature sensor, and power mode control registers to provide greater flexibility and customisation. It also has numerous external interface options, including a 16-bit SPI, I2C, and JTAG port.
The DAC80004EVM offers a range of useful features, such as: easy evaluation of DAC80004 performance, power dissipation and accuracy; adjustable low voltage power supply for use with DUTs/prototype boards; simultaneous or separate connection of one or more DAC80004 devices; direct measure of dynamic response or settling time; SPI and I2C port for control and configuration; a built-in temperature sensor; and an optional GTL bus interface.
The DAC80004EVM also provides a wide range of analog performance test functions, such as dynamic response, step response, overshoot, speed / rise time, settling time, and much more. It also allows users to measure digital performance by hooking up one or more DAC80004 devices. The DAC80004EVM also allows for easy manipulation of the device registers and SPI and I2C commands, as well as real-time predictions for power dissipation, settling time, accuracy, etc.
The DAC80004EVM is also easy to integrate with other hardware and software. It supports integration of other development boards, such as the Texas Instruments MSP430 and TM4C123G, which allow customers to control and observe the performance of the DAC80004 in real-time. Additionally, the evaluation system supports the integration of signal-processing ICs and other high-end processors in order to create higher-level systems, enabling advanced applications such as video image processing, network audio/video streaming and configuration, or industrial automation control.
