The DAC8218EVM is an evaluation board designed to give customers a quick way to connect and test performance from the DAC8218 digital to analog converter. It is a convenient member of the family of evaluation boards designed by Texas Instruments dedicated to the Digital to Analog conversion for industrial, commercial, and consumer applications. The DAC8218EVM is the perfect solution for customers looking to evaluate the performance of the DAC8218 in a rapid and easy to use platform.The DAC8218EVM was designed with the goal of providing users with a great evaluation platform that could provide accurate measurements and results while taking away the daunting task of wiring an evaluation circuit. The board features a compact module form factor and includes many pre-wired components. To evaluate performance, the board has the standard set of power supplies (DATAx, GNDx) and analog connections (VOUT_xP, VOUT_xN, VREF_x, GND_x). With the DAC8218EVM, users don’t need to worry about messy wiring, as all the components are wired for convenience. The DAC8218EVM is specifically designed to make evaluation of the DAC8218 an easy task. The board is powered by the data interface (I2C or SPI), with digital data and commands sent from the device connected to the board. After powering the board, users simply need to connect the board to the computer and access the Texas Instruments development environment to launch the graphical user interface with built-in user controls. With the GUI, users can evaluate performance features such as input range, output resolution, and differential output voltage, all from a convenient user interface.The DAC8218 is a low-power, high-precision, low-glitch, low-noise digital-to-analog converter. It features a 9-bit plus sign output resolution, a differential output voltage of 3.3V, and a supply current of 5 mA or less. The DAC8218 offers a wide operating temperature range (−40°C to 85°C) and provides an excellent immunity to digital noise and EMI. With ample performance features, the DAC8218 is built to meet the performance and precision demands of many applications such as automotive instrumentation, audio, medical imaging, and sensor data acquisition.The use of the DAC8218 evaluation board is simple and straightforward. Firstly, users must connect the power supplies and analog signals to the DAC users normally supply between 1.8V to 5.5V VDD and ground). To ensure proper data transfer, users must also configure the DAC8218’s serial ports pin configurations to match the desired serial interface - either SPI or I2C.As the final step prior to evaluation, the board must be placed in the context of the target system. Once the connections are made, the evaluation begins after users power up the board and configure the digital data and commands from the SPI or I2C.
