The DC1151A-G Evaluation Board provides a test and evaluation platform for numerous Analog to Digital Converters (ADCs). The board enables quick validation of the performance of the device under test (DUT), as well as providing a tool for characterization and debug of the device.
The board can be used for converters up to 20-bits resolution, and accepts a wide range of input voltage signal levels. It also includes an onboard precision voltage reference for optimum performance, and various user selectable voltage reference options for specific applications.
The board can also be used for precision signal amplification, providing a wide range of gain settings with low noise levels and a high degree of accuracy. This includes features such as adjustable gain, user selectable gain setting and buffer amplifiers, configured as gain amplifiers or voltage followers.
The board is ideal for use in a variety of applications such as pharmacokinetic and metabolic analysis, industrial automation, data acquisition, instrumentation, medical imaging and more. It can also be used to measure various parameters such as temperature, pressure, humidity, vibration, acceleration, transients and so on.
The DC1151A-G is designed for use with Analog to Digital Converters (ADCs) in one, two, or four-channel evaluations. It is based on a single-sided interface with 10-bit resolution and features a high-speed, low-voltage ADC with extended input range and integrated filter.
The board supports three types of data acquisition including single-ended, differential and multi-terminal modes. It supports a wide operating frequency range from kHz to MHz. The board comes with various features such as programmable gain/offset, programmable threshold level, input and output multiplexing, segmented memory and various serial communication interfaces.
The working principle of the board is based on the concept of signal conditioning. This process involves filtering, conditioning, amplification and/or conversion. The board uses a set of ADC components to perform signal conditioning in order to convert analog signals into digital form. The ADC components include an operational amplifier, a low-pass filter, an ideal comparator and A/D conversion.
The operational amplifier amplifies the signal input while maintaining a constant gain and linear output. The low pass filter reduces any unwanted noise in the signal, while ensuring that it is only the important information that is passed through. The ideal comparator then performs comparison between the analog signal and the reference voltage. Once the signal is converted, it is then fed to the A/D converter, where the signal is further digitized.
