DC1341A evaluation board, as categorized into \'Evaluation Boards - DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS\', is an ideal platform for design, test and characterization of buck, boost or fly-back topologies in various off-line power supply applications. Though it comes in a form of a single integrated board, however, it allows a designer to design their own custom buck, boost or fly-back topology quickly and accurately.
DC1341A supports all types of step down, step up, single ended primary inductor converter (SEPIC) and fly-back topologies. It is based on an LM358T/N device. The combination of various buck, boost or fly-back topologies together with the current sensing feature of the LM358T/N device allows the designer to fine tune their switching power supplies for maximum efficiency. The DC1341A evaluation board also features common-mode input voltage that can be set up between 3V and 24V.
Working Principle: The DC1341A Evaluation Board provides a compact, easy to use platform to evaluate the LM358T/N device for switching power supply applications. It is designed to experimentally demonstrate the performance of a variety of buck, boost and fly-back topologies. The device also features accurate current sensing for in-depth investigation of power supply design parameters.
Once the buck, boost or fly-back topology is selected, the user can easily set up the required variable input voltage and inductor current sense value. The board also provides a convenient adjustable output voltage setting to allow the user to simulate desired output voltage levels. The LM358T/N device on the DC1341A evaluation board can switch up to 2.5A of continuous output current and up to 40A of peak output current for pulse operation.
The board also features an adjustable current sensing circuit which allows the user to easily measure the peak inductor current and provide the ability to optimize efficiency for a given load. The current sense output is routed to the output stage of the power supply, enabling the user to measure and evaluate power supply operating parameters. The internal current limit is adjustable to obtain optimum efficiency during varying load conditions.
The DC1341A Evaluation Board also features an adjustable soft-start circuit which allows the user to control the current ramp-up behavior of the output voltage and prevent the output voltage from overshooting its set point. The current limit circuit ensures that the buck, boost or fly-back converter operates safely and efficiently throughout the entire operation range.
The evaluation board also offers a stand-alone mode, allowing the user to perform detailed measurements and analysis under pre-defined conditions. The stand-alone mode also allows the user to graphically display various power supply parameters including, but not limited to, input voltage, output voltage, current limit, peak inductor current and output power.
In conclusion, the DC1341A Evaluation Board is ideal platform to quickly design, test and characterize buck, boost or fly-back topologies for off-line power applications. Its comprehensive suite of features, such as adjustable input voltage range, adjustable current sense value, adjustable soft-start circuit, and current limit circuit make the DC1341A Evaluation Board very useful device for design and evaluation of switching power supplies.
