DC2328A is an evaluation board designed to allow users and developers to quickly evaluate the performance of Texas Instruments DC/DC and AC/DC (off-line) switching mode power supply (SMPS) controllers. This versatile board includes various combination of control and power stages, as well as related packages servo drivers — enabling users to design a wide variety of power management solutions. The DC2328A evaluation board is ideal for applications requiring high-power density, such as telecom systems, notebook computer systems, consumer electronics, test and measurement equipment, and automotive systems. It can also be used to evaluate the performance of Texas Instruments C2000 digital signal controllers (DSC) for power bus and feedback loop control applications.The DC2328A board features an easy-to-use graphical user interface that provides all necessary information for configuring the evaluation board, and provides display of oscilloscope trace waveforms showing how the output voltage and current are affected by changes in the parameters. The board also includes a low-noise pulse-width modulated (PWM) controller, along with a companion low-dropout (LDO) regulator, allowing users to experiment with different control strategies for power management.The DC2328A evaluation board is designed to work with the Texas Instruments\' TPS548B and TPS5500 high-efficiency digital-controlled SMPS controllers. These controllers provide the user with a wide range of features and functions, including cost-effective current mode control, parameterized pre-bias start-up, self/disable programmable via I2C interface, fault monitoring/considering, and continuous current limit. Additionally, a flexible servicing routine helps minimize the total bill of materials by providing an embedded two-switch technique for smooth system start-up and shut-down. The evaluation board’s on-board PWM and LDO regulators, along with the TI SMPS controllers, provide the user with the capability to accurately control the power delivered to the load. The PWM controller enables the user to adjust the duty cycle of the output voltage signal, in order to regulate the output voltage to the desired levels. The adjustable LDO regulator can be used to control the useful output load current, thereby optimizing the power delivered to the system. In addition to the on-board regulators, the DC2328A evaluation board includes various off-board components, which further extend the functionality and flexibility of the board. These components include a full range of support hardware, such as discrete analog, SMPS controllers, converters, voltage regulators, digital isolators, and transistors. The complete DC2328A evaluation board kit contains all the necessary components and documentation needed for the user to quickly set up the board for operation. This includes an on-board oscilloscope, current sensor, and a debugging and testing board. Additionally, it also includes a number of reference designs and example code to get started quickly.
