DC2411A is a switching power supply evaluation board, which belongs to the Evaluation Boards - DC / DC & AC / DC (Off-Line) SMPS category. This board is designed to demonstrate the performance of Microsemi\'s HiperPFM Advanced Analog Controller family of ICs. This board targets high-efficiency, cooling-free, high-power applications in the 5V to 24V output voltage range. This evaluation board can manage power from as low as 175mA to as high as 10A, making it ideal for a variety of different applications.
The DC2411A evaluation board features a wide operating temperature range from -40°C to +105°C and a low no-load power consumption of <45mW, making it an energy-efficient solution. Working Principle
The DC2411A evaluation board utilizes a flyback topology to generate the isolated output voltage. The circuitry consists of two main parts, the PFM controller and the power switches. The PFM controller is used to regulate the output voltage and to maintain the overall efficiency of the system. The power switches (MOSFET) are used to convert the input DC voltage to the output AC voltage. The DC voltage is converted to an AC voltage through the primary winding of the transformer,after which it is rectified and filtered to obtain the desired output voltage.
The PFM controller monitors the secondary winding of the transformer and adjusts the on-time of the power switches according to the output voltage being drawn by the load. This allows the system to maintain a constant output voltage despite the changes in the input and output currents. The controller also monitors the input voltage and is able to detect an abnormal voltage which might cause an overvoltage, overtemperature, overtemperature, or power surge. In the event of an abnormal voltage, the controller is able to switch off the output voltage safely.
