It features a complete reference design of both the IEEE 802.3af Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) and the IEEE 802.3at Powered Device (PD). This evaluation and demonstration board is suitable for system integrators, evaluators, developers, and testers to determine the proper operation of any PoE application.Modern network infrastructures are increasingly powered by PoE. The IEEE version of PoE (IEEE802.3af and IEEE 802.3at) has been widely accepted due to its greater flexibility, reliability, and the potential of a significantly higher power budget than the extant non-IEEE versions of PoE.DC2423A-B board is a complete PoE test and evaluation platform utilizing the Analog Devices ADP5090 and ADP5052 PoE Plus controllers. This board enables users to evaluate either PSE (Power Sourcing Equipment) or PD (Powered Device) functionality.The module includes a 4-port measurement head board and USB board. The 4-port board provides the natural extension of USB to 4x Gigabit Ethernet ports, allowing researchers to conduct power testing and termination easily and quickly. A DC power supply can of up to 3A max is provided for transmission testing. The USB board offers an 8-port 9VDC PSE/PD control circuit which supports remote control of the ports. It allows users to use AT command to control the port voltage and current for the purpose of power consumption testing or automated characterization and control.DC2423A-B board provides the user with a convenient, unified, and cost-effective environment to evaluate and demonstrate next-generation PoE solutions. This board eliminates the time that would otherwise be spent building up a PoE test setup. By combining pre-designed power source and sink circuits with manageable, measureable ports, DC2423A-B board offers easy access to the building blocks of PoE. The included reference design minimized development time, reduces test costs, and increases the accuracy of evaluation.DC2423A-B board is capable of providing up to 4 ports of gigabit Ethernet with support for Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+). It supports a wide range of input and output voltage levels, allowing designers to optimize their system\'s power and performance across longer cable lengths. The board can also be extended to support 16 or 24 ports using Analog Devices\' switches and PHYs. This board implements the IEEE 802.3af and 802.3at protocols and can be used to evaluate the converters/PDs and power source devices that are compliant with this standard.
