。The DC264A evaluation board is an ideal platform designed to evaluate and test AC/DC and DC/DC (off-line) switch-mode power supplies (SMPS). Its primary application field is for generating and measuring efficiency performance of AC/DC and DC/DC (off-line) switch-mode power supplies. It can also be used as an isolated transformer, coupled regulator, or in any applications that require reliable AC/DC or DC/DC power supply.
This device utilizes a coreless transformer to isolate the input and output potentials and provide galvanic isolation. This provides superior performance compared to regular transformers, and improved immunity to noise and current spikes. The board also includes two monitoring points, which are used for monitoring the input and output voltages. The board is designed to operate with an input voltage range of 90-265 VAC and output voltage of 5-24 V.
The DC264A essentially works on a buck-boost converter topology. When power is supplied to the input, the switching element turns ON and OFF, effectively regulating the output voltage. The on-time of the switching element, T, is inversely proportional to the output power. This allows for precise regulation and Ripple rejection. The circuit also includes a current mode control loop which stabilizes the output voltage level and compensates for the changing load current.
The device includes two control ICs namely the TDE2202 for the primary side and the TDF2104 for the secondary side. The primary side IC is used to control the switching elements to regulate the output voltage. It also provides two monitoring points VIN and VOUT for monitoring the input and output voltages, respectively. The secondary side IC is used for the current controller and is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the output current. This allows for better current control and a constant switching frequency.
The device includes an adjustable under/over voltage lockout feature, designed to protect its components in the event of an input voltage surge. The adjustable trip voltage is set by the user using the supplied voltage reference IC. The device also contains a thermal foldback protection circuit that limits the output current when the device gets hot. As it is designed with safety in mind, it meets the requirements of IEC60529 safety regulations.
