The DC353A evaluation board is designed to provide designers with a recognized test platform for their modular SMPS applications. The type of power supply it is used for is termed an off-line SMPS. An off-line SMPS is basically a switched mode power supply (SMPS) that operates between a AC line input and a DC output voltage. This off-line SMPS requires rectification, smoothing, and regulation circuit.

The DC353A evaluation board features a fixed-frequency, constant-voltage buck converter with integrated MOSFET switches. It also includes a collection of components such as a step-down transformer, full-bridge diode rectifier, and active-bridge rectifier to form the basic SMPS power stage. The DC353A evaluation board provides a voltage regulation function for the DC output voltage, based on a fixed-frequency PWM control signal.

The board features several sampling and protection circuits that are monitored parameters such as input voltage and input line current.
