DC484A Evaluation Board- LED Drivers
The DC484A Evaluation Board is a powerful and versatile tool for evaluating LED drivers. Application Field
The DC484A is designed to simulate a variety of LED drivers, ranging from standard types to more complex models. Working Principle
At the core of the DC484A is an adjustable, two-stage power supply regulator. It consists of a fixed 3.3V regulator, a microcontroller, a boost converter and a load. The microcontroller sets the output voltage of the regulator and the boost converter, and it is also used to monitor the status of the LED driver. This includes data from the LED current and LED voltage, as well as data from the LED temperature and LED efficacy.
The DC484A can be used in two operating modes: boosting and linear mode. The boosting mode sets the output voltage above the 3.3V rail, while the linear mode sets the output voltage to be equal to the 3.3V rail. The peak current of the boost converter can be adjusted with a potentiometer. The peak current will determine the LS impedance and ripple current of the LED.
In boost mode, when the LED current exceeds the peak current of the boost converter, the LED light will flicker due to its insufficient output power. To counteract this, the DC484A can be configured to automatically switch between boost and linear modes as needed.
The DC484A also features a voltage control mode. This mode will adjust the output voltage of the regulator based on the voltage of the LED. The voltage control mode can be used to optimize the LED power consumption for different power levels.
Finally, the DC484A has a range of advanced features, including an adjustable current limiter to prevent overloads and runaway currents, a built-in temperature monitor, and a range of safety features to protect the LEDs from short circuiting and thermal runaway.
