The DC916A-B Evaluation Board is a complete, easy to use, off-line switched mode power supply solution. It is designed to provide an experienced engineer with a wide range DC and AC-DC power requirements, and to serve as a high performance, low-cost prototype foundation for more sophisticated design solutions. The DC916A-B is part of the DC916 Power Conversion Device Evaluation Board family which includes the DC916A and DC916B. These boards feature synchronous rectification and a wide range of high-frequency switching topologies.
The DC916A-B Evaluation Board is designed to meet the needs of most switching dc-dc applications, and offers several advantages over traditional linear regulator based solutions. The board offers a wide operating range, low output ripple, high efficiency, and fast dynamic response. Additionally, the board is compatible with both positive and negative voltage rails and can be used in a variety of input/output configurations.
The board features a 3A output step-down dc-dc converter with built-in continuous current mode control. The output voltage range for this device is 0.775V-3.3V and the output current range is 0.3-3A. The board also features an adjustable output voltage and can be easily programmed to provide various output voltage levels. The DC916A-B also operates at a frequency of up to 500kHz, making it suitable for high-frequency applications.
The board also includes a wide range of protection features such as over temperature, over current, under voltage, and short-circuit protections. It includes an 8-pin socket where users can add additional ICs for advanced features. Additionally, the board also provides a user-controlled polarity protection of the +5Vout voltage.
