This evaluation board is mainly for engineers who are actively involved in development and design of application such as non-isolated power supplies, offline isolated switching power supply, offline isolated adapter, DC/DC converter, solar panel charger, LED lighting and industrial control applications.
DCM4623ED2K13E0M70 Working Principle
The DCM4623ED2K13E0M70 follows the basic principle of DC/DC converters. The input power is connected to the board input terminals or the battery and the load is connected to the output terminals of the board. The input power is fed into the power stage that consists of primary side FCP13N60S MOSFET. Here, the pulse width modulation signals are generated by the IC through the driver circuit generating the PWM signals to drive the primary side MOSFET that regulates the power to load.
The FCP13N60S is a current-mode control flyback controller with minimal external components. The driver section connected to the controller have two isolated current sensingresistors sensing the output current and capacitors connected to the driver and controller to bypass any high frequency interference. Additionally, the flying capacitor generates a ramp compensation to the error amplifier terminal of the controller for the DC current feedback. This compensates the internal offset voltage of the output current.
In the sensed output of the primary side, two resistors form a voltage divider to give an average voltage, thus making the output voltage control loop. This loop uses the main error amplifier of the controller, its reference voltage and the opto coupler with two resistors – so that the current flows through them and the output voltage is maintained.
The isolated portion of the DC/DC converter is mainly of flux linkage transformation and the secondary side consisting of core, winding and diode rectifier for rectifying the pulsating current into the DC current. In the second side of the MOSFET group, a quick turn off diode is connected to the transformer tap to prevent the back current flow.
The DCM4623ED2K13E0M70 uses soft start feature using resistors. The low voltage detector also monitors the output voltage when the MOSFETs are being switched on and off. Further, the protection is made sure from any abnormal conditions like the extra or insufficient fuel that can cause power cutoff.
DCM4623ED2K13E0M70 has a crucial role of performing the function of PWM control along with the transistor drive feature and protection circuitry that sense and drive the signals to the external DCM flyback controller. The board also has the flexibility to operate with multiple voltages and an adjustable output voltage in order to meet the desired requirements.
