Working Principle

DCW08C-05 functions on the principle of pulse width modulation (PWM) which utilizes low-RDSMOS switch to achieve high efficiency. When input voltage is connected to the device, current flows through the power switch and a passive filter circuit to the output. The power switch is operated at a PWM frequency and duty increasing or reducing the output voltage as required.

The main component of the converter is an advanced low-RDS(ON)MOS switch with integrated anti-parallel body diode. The PWM modulator controls the working of the switch. An active clamping circuit ensures a minimized voltage spike when the switch is turned off, which results in high efficiency.

The converter has Multiple Loop Control which ensures high efficiency and low output voltage ripple. The output voltage is adjusted by external voltage feedback and can be monitored by the voltage sensors inside the device. In addition, short-circuit protection, current limitation and thermal shutdown are also available.

DCW08C-05 supports a wide input voltage of 4V to 32V with and an extended temperature operation of -40°C to 85°C. All components of the device are operational at a natural ambient temperature of 85°C.
