。DDC264EVM Application Field and Working Principle
The DDC264EVM Evaluation Board is an analog-to-digital converter (ADC). It is designed for high-speed, low-resolution, and high-resolution applications. Its target applications include: mobile, audio, communications, broadcast, television, automotive, and instrumentation. The board is made up of several components, including the *Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC-20C), *Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC-24C), Data-Aquisition-System (DAS), *Time-Domain-Reflectometer (TDR), *Digital Battery Monitor (DBM), Digital I/O, Memory, and Power.
The evaluation board’s field of applications mainly includes industrial instrumentation, video- and audio-processing, medical imaging, and a range of automotive and consumer-electronic applications. Its main application is in Smart Analog Modular Converter (SAMC) solutions, where high-resolution and high-speed data acquisition is required.
The board offers low-power consumption, low-noise, high linearity, and low glitched noise by using an optimized architecture that can be used in MAXIP converter designs. The board has the maximum sampling speed of 1.25MSps, with a maximum of 10MHz signal frequency and up to 256k-point signal length. It is also equipped with an array of additional features such as programmable PSR (pseudo-differential) analog input and output ranges, 6-bit digital input and outputs, a combined analog/digital gain, and digital adjustment of sampling speed and points collection.
The DDC264EVM board is also built with a 24-bit/8-channel AD converter, multiplexed output, user-settable input range, and wide bandwidth. It has a low power and low noise AD converter selection which enables it to deliver high-resolution sampling and recording. Furthermore, the on-board high accuracy oscillator ensures jitter is minimized and accuracy is maximized.
The board also features programmable DSP functions through its advanced digital signal process (DSP) controller functions. With these functions, users can adjust sampling frequency, input signal range, and digital gain. On top of that, users can also choose to use the on-board software to generate DSP functions.
The board’s working principle is based on analog-to-digital conversion. In this method, analog signals are converted into digital signals by using an appropriate sampling frequency and its related sampling filter. This analog signal is then digitized by using an analog-to-digital converter, where it is then stored to the available memory interface and then further processed by the processor.
The functionality of the board is implemented through the on-board processor, which supports various communication protocols such as Ethernet, SPI and I2C. Additionally, the board also features an embedded debug module which supports JTAG, Trace, etc. All the functionalities are encoded in instructions and stored in the program memory. Furthermore, the I/O ports, serial ports and DSP functions can be controlled by instructions.
The DDC264EVM evaluation board is an effective tool that can be used in a variety of system designs for both high-resolution and high-speed applications. It can be used in a variety of systems ranging from medical imaging, mobile, audio, communications, television, automotive, broadcast, and instrumentation. The board offers high-efficiency and low-noise operation, as well as low power consumption. With the features and proper utilization, the board has the capability to meet the customer application requirement.
