DF15005S-T consists of an integrated bridge rectifier composed of four Schottky diodes in a compact, cost-effective SOT-89 package, suitable for a wide variety of DC power applications including automotive and industrial applications. In order to better understand how this device works, let’s take a deep dive into its application field and working principle.
APPLICATION FIELD
The DF15005S-T is a high temperature and high reverse voltage forty-five hundred (4500) volt Schottky Bridge Rectifier. It is widely used in automotive and industrial applications, where high voltage, high temperature, and high reverse voltage are a requirement. This part is designed to provide reliable DC power conversion while operating in environments with temperatures reaching up to 150°C. Additionally, its frequency response captures the 800 Hz range and it is designed to be ‘ideal’ for constant voltage, constant current applications.
The DF15005S-T is also ideal for high-voltage AC to DC conversion of industrial, consumer and automotive stationary and portable equipment such as in power supplies, DC/DC converters, circuit breakers, switch-mode regulators, and more. WORKING PRINCIPLE
A bridge rectifier is a device made up of four Schottky diodes, in which the current flows in one direction only. The four diodes are placed in a specific configuration (i.e. in the shape of a bridge) to enable the conversion of AC to DC power. The Schottky diodes found in the DF15005S-T are designed to have low reverse leakage current making it more suitable for use in high-voltage AC to DC conversion applications.
When the AC power is applied to the device, the diodes turn on and off in a specific pattern, allowing current to flow in only one direction. The diode with the most positive voltage at each of the two input terminals will be turned on and the diode with the most negative voltage at each of the two input terminals will be turned off. As the current flows through the diodes, it is converted from AC to DC.
Therefore, the DF15005S-T bridge rectifier enables the conversion of AC power to DC power, making it ideal for high-voltage AC to DC conversion applications in the automotive, industrial, and consumer industries.
