Similarly, when the voltage is in the negative half-cycle, the lower right and upper left diodes are forward-biased, while the lower left and upper right diodes are reverse-biased.

The diodes are constructed in such a way that when the voltage is in the forward-biased condition, the diodes will conduct electricity, while in the reverse-biased condition, the diodes will not conduct electricity. This is how the bridge rectifier works to convert alternating current to direct current. The output DC voltage is equal to the peak AC voltage multiplied by the peak inverse voltage of the diodes.
