The DIR1703E is a cost-efficient, high-performance 3-channel control IC designed for a range of applications, including LED lighting, motor control and audio. It features low R DS(on) driver outputs with nearly zero voltage drop, low-power standby and adjustable switching frequency.

Application Field of DIR1703E

DIR1703E, with 3-channel low side driver outputs and internal high-side low R DS(on) driver, is ideal for a number of automotive and other lighting applications. Thanks to its excellent R DS(on) performance, it can effectively reduce heat dissipation in LED lighting. It is also suitable for relatively high switching frequency. Therefore, DIR1703E is an ideal device for LED dimming, LED light strips, LED indicator and LED displays. DIR1703E can also be used for motor control applications. It is compatible with various kinds of motors: brushless motors, DC motors and stepper motors. The high side current sensing allows accurate motor speed and position control by monitoring the motor current. The audio application of DIR1703E is another important field. It offers quick settling time and high precision. The low ESR bypass to GND helps to improve audio performance by reducing the noise.

Working Principle of DIR1703E

The driving principle of DIR1703E is based on its three low side drivers. Each low side driver consists of an N-FET with adjustable current limit. When the input is LOW, the driver output is HIGH. When the input is HIGH, the driver output is LOW. The operating voltage is from 8 V to 40 V, and the switching frequency is adjustable in the range of 100Hz to 1MHz. The DIR1703E also integrates various protection function to protect the system, such as thermal shutdown, overcurrent protection and undervoltage lockout.
