1. Describe
The DLPA3005DPFD is a highly integrated power management IC optimized for DLP® Pico™ projector systems. The DLPA3005 supports LED projectors up to 16 A per LED with an integrated high-efficiency buck controller. In addition, the driver controls the RGB switch and supports the sequencing of R, G and B LEDs. The DLPA3005 contains five buck converters, two of which are dedicated to DLPC low-voltage power supplies. Another dedicated regulated power supply generates three timing-critical DC supplies for the DMD: VBIAS, VRST, and VOFS. The DLPA3005 includes several auxiliary modules that can be used flexibly. This makes it possible to customize the Pico projector system. For example, three 8-bit programmable buck converters can be used to drive RGB projector fans or make auxiliary power cables. Generic Buck2 (PWR6) is currently supported, other products may be available in the future. Two LDOs can be used to provide lower currents up to 200 mA. These LDOs are predefined for 2.5 V and 3.3 V. Through SPI, all modules of the DLPA3005 can be addressed. Features included include system reset generation, power sequencing, input signals for sequential selection of active LEDs, IC self-protection, and analog MUX for routing analog information to an external ADC.

5. Application Information
In display applications, using the DLPA3005DPFD provides all required analog functions, including all analog power supplies Power supplies and RGB LED drivers (up to 16A per LED) for a powerful and efficient display solution. each DLP applications are mainly derived from the optical architecture of the system and the incoming data format Enter the DLPC3439 DLP controller chip.
6. Typical application
A common application when using the DLPA3005DPFD is to use it with a 0.47 1080 DMD (DLP4710) and two DLPC3439 controllers to create a small ultra-portable projector. The DLPC3439 in a projector typically uses HDMI or VGA analog to receive images from a PC or video player. Images can also be received using a card reader and Wi-Fi if the appropriate peripheral chip is added. The DLPA3005 provides power to sequence and control the RGB LED current according to application requirements.
7. Auto LED off function
PAD devices can be powered by a battery pack or an adapter. As mentioned in the previous paragraphs, PAD devices use several warning and detection levels to prevent damage to the system if the supply voltage becomes too low or even interrupts. For example, when the adapter is switched to another power outlet, a mains voltage interruption occurs. If a battery pack is installed, system power control should switch to the battery pack at this time. For example, the supply voltage might change from 20 V to 8 V, so the OVP level might be lower than VLED. An OVP fault will be triggered and the system will shut down. The Auto_LED_Turn_Off function can be used to prevent the system from turning off under these conditions. This function disables the LED when the supply voltage drops below LED_AUTO_OFF_LEVEL (reg 0x18h). It is recommended that this level be the same as the BAT_LOW_WARN level. When the Auto_LED_Turn_Off feature is enabled, once the supply voltage is detected to drop below LED_AUTO_OFF_LEVEL, the LED will turn off and the system should start sending lower current levels to have a lower VLED. After starting to use lower current, the LED can be turned on again by disabling the AUTO_LED_TURN_OFF function. The system can therefore continue to operate at lower supply voltages using lower intensities. The system must monitor the BAT_LOW_WARN status and once the power adapter is plugged in again, the Auto_LED_Turn_Off function can be enabled again. The LED currents can now return to their original levels before the drop from the supply voltage.
8. Programmable Gain Block
The current through the LEDs is determined by a digital number stored in the respective IDAC registers 0x03h to 0x08h. These registers determine the LED current which is measured through the sense resistor RLIM. The voltage across RLIM is compared with the current setting from the IDAC registers and the loop regulates the current to its set value When cu owing through an LED, a forward voltage is built up over the LED. The LED also represents a (low) differential resistance which is part of the load circuit for VLED. Together with the wire resistance (RWIRE) and the RON resistance of the FET switch a voltage divider is created with RLIM that is a factor in the loop gain of the ILED control. Under normal conditions, the loop is able to produce a well regulated LED current up to 16 Amps.
