Common mode chokes are used in various industrial applications to suppress transients and isolate signals from each other for improved noise reduction and immunity. The DLW5BSM801TQ2L is a type of common mode choke that is specifically designed for use in audio/video, consumer, automotive, industrial and other applications. It provides both EMI (electromagnetic interference) and RFI (radio frequency interference) suppression. The DLW5BSM801TQ2L provides superior performance over other common mode chokes in terms of differential-mode attenuation, common-mode isolation and differential-mode noise rejection.
The DLW5BSM801TQ2L can be used to suppress common-mode currents and noise that are due to the transients, surges, and ESD (electrostatic discharge) events. It can also be used to minimize intrinsic R/C (Resistance/Capacitance) from unwanted noise sources. This is achieved by providing a high common-mode impedance over a wide frequency range. Additionally, the choke also provides excellent shielding and suppression of differential-railed signals, such as those found on audio/video cables.
The DLW5BSM801TQ2L is a three-wire, single-section, differential common-mode choke comprised of a ferrite core and three windings of foil-shielded wire. The three terminals are labeled A, B and C. A and C are the differential pair and B is the common sense lead. It is rated at 150mA which is useful for various medium power applications. The operating frequency range is from 500KHz to 100MHz.
The working principle of a common mode choke is relatively simple. In general terms, it works by providing a high impedance path for the common-mode currents so that they don’t pass through the signal lines and interfere with the signals. This is achieved by the inductance created in the choke when the core is exposed to a magnetic field. As the current flow in the windings is increased, the inductance will increase and thus the impedance path for the common-mode current will be increased.
The DLW5BSM801TQ2L works in a very similar way. It is designed with a ferrite core for higher impedance and a three-wire arrangement with a differential pair and a single common sense lead. By connecting the two differential wires together, it provides a high impedance path for the common-mode currents away from the signal lines. Additionally, the three-wire arrangement also allows the choke to provide excellent shielding against transients, ESD events and EMIs/RFIs from external sources.
The DLW5BSM801TQ2L is ideal for a wide range of industrial applications, providing excellent noise suppression and signal integrity. It can be used in consumer electronics, audio/video and automotive applications, as well as in industrial automation, aerospace and telecommunication systems. The choke is RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) compliant and is manufactured in accordance with ISO9001 and IEC standards.
