The DML3006LFDS load switch provides a reduced components and area solution for high-efficiency power domain switching with soft-start for inrush current limiting. In addition to integrated control features with ultra-low on-resistance, the device provides system protection and monitoring through fault protection and power good signaling. The DML3006LFDS is a single-channel load switch in an 8-pin V-DFN2020-8 (Type F) package with controllable adjustable turn-on and an integrated PG indicator. The device contains an N-channel MOSFET that operates over an input voltage range of 0.5V to 13.5V and supports a maximum continuous current of 10A. The wide input voltage range and high current capability enable the device to be used in a variety of designs and end equipment. The 6mΩ on-resistance minimizes the voltage drop across the load switch and power loss in the load switch. The device's controlled rise time greatly reduces inrush current caused by large load capacitances, thereby reducing or eliminating power supply droop. Adjustable slew rate through the SR provides design flexibility to trade off inrush current and power-up sequencing requirements. An integrated PG indicator notifies the system of the status of the load switch to facilitate seamless power sequencing. During shutdown, the device has very low leakage current, reducing unnecessary leakage from downstream modules during standby. A 100Ω on-chip resistor is also embedded on the BLEED pin of the DML3006LFDS to quickly discharge the output when the switch is disabled. The DML3006LFDS device allows the MOSFET to be enabled in an active-high configuration. The MOSFET will be enabled when sufficient voltage is applied to the VCC supply pin and the EN pin is at a logic high level. Likewise, when the EN pin is at a logic low level, the MOSFET will be disabled. An internal pull-down resistor to ground on the EN pin ensures that the MOSFET is disabled when not being driven. The DML3006LFDS has an internal bleeder to bleed the load's charge to ground after the MOSFET is disabled. The bleeder is enabled whenever the MOSFET is disabled. MOSFETs and bleeders will never Active at the same time. The BLEED pin is required to be connected to VOUT either directly or through an external resistor REXT. REXT should not exceed 1kΩ and can be used to increase the total bleed resistance. Care must be taken to ensure that the power consumption on the RBLEED remains at a safe level. The maximum continuous power that can be dissipated on the RBLEED is 0.4W. REXT can be used to reduce power consumption on RBLEED.
