Encoders are devices which uses pulses or similar methods to measure speed or position of rotating shafts. The used signals can either be digital or analog and the related parameters can be processed and displayed. An encoder converts the linear or rotary motion of a motor or an engineering element into a digital or analog code. The DP09H2412B20F is an incremental encoder which use standard formats like line driver, HTL or open collector output for ambient temperatures between -40 to +85degC. It has 4 x 20 mm flange face to provide mounting flexibility. It has bi-directional output signals with up to 12 pulses per revolution, a resolution of 24 counts per revolution and a maximum frequency up to 36 kHz. It use HTL output levels for both square wave A & B signals with a push pull output and an optional indexer output. It is a low power device with supply voltage consuming only 5V DC.The DP09H2412B20F is an excellent choice for applications where positioning and speed monitoring is required. It is extensively used in diverse applications like industrial automation, automation in hoists and cranes, CNC machines and robot controls.The working principle of the DP09H2412B20F encoder is simple. It basically uses a stationary code disc, with pre-defined patterns, to detect the change in position of the rotating shafts. The change in position results in variation in the signal induced in the disc. This changing signal is either transferred to a separate detector or the detector is positioned in the encoder itself. This input is then processed and used for monitoring the speed or position of the shaft. The encoder also consists of electrical sensing elements which are placed in the form of strips to receive the signals. With each rotation of the code disc, the inputs on the monitoring strips will be read and transferred into a code which can be understood by the controller. The controller can then process the code to take decisions on position or speed. The working principle of the DP09H2412B20F encoder is to generate an output based on the change in position of the shafts from the code disc. The code from the disc can be analog or digital, which can be decided by the user depending on the preference. The encoder will generate output depending on the type of code selected, for example, if the code selected if analog then depending on the voltage variation, the output generated can be proportional or not. The output is sent as an SIN or COS signal that can be interface with a suitable controller. The incremental encoder works by reading the movement whether forward or backward and retrieving the count value, this is the main procedure for any kind of encoder, after that external controller will gets the count value, can be use in monitoring the encoder position, speed, or position/speed monitoring together.The DP09H2412B20F incremental encoder, being compact, robust and highly economical makes it an excellent choice for most applications which involves speed and position monitoring.
