Working Principle

The DPX4024DW15 is based on a buck-boost topology, which allows it to step down the input voltage for output regulation up to 15V DC. The product incorporates a high-efficiency switching regulator which allows for superior performance with minimal energy loss, resulting in a product life time of over 10 years. It is designed with robust components that provide lightning-fast start-up transient response and excellent protection against line and load transients.

The main components of the DPX4024DW15 include an inductor, a power switch, an optocoupler, an error amplifier, a reference oscillator, current limit, current sense, an EMI filter, and a voltage-monitoring circuit. The error amplifier senses the output voltage and compensates for changes in load and input voltage to maintain the output voltage. The current-sense circuit provides overcurrent protection if the load is too high.

The DPX4024DW15 also includes a unique “Soft Start” feature that reduces stress on the modules by slowly ramping up the output voltage. This prevents inrush current and ensures a clean start up. Additionally, the power switch automatically shuts off if the output voltage exceeds an over-voltage threshold.
