A DR331-253AE is a type of common mode choke that is primarily used for applications such as radio frequency interference (RFI) suppression, power line noise filtering, and signal line noise filtering. The DR331-253AE has a high common mode impedance, low differential mode resistance, and outstanding EMI performance.

The DR331-253AE is a three-core common mode noise filter that has two current carrying cores and one central core. It features three-tier windings to cancel the current noise on all power lines or data lines, while providing a balance impedance between the line Common Mode and Differential Mode impedance on both sides of one core.

In the DR331-253AE, the current carrying cores are wound with a transparent enamelled copper wire with a diameter of 0.2-0.5mm, and the central core is wound with aluminium wire with a diameter of 0.2-0.3mm. The DR331-253AE is also equipped with a varistor core to provide additional EMI performance, and has a UL94-V-0 flame-retardant grade.

The diameter of the DR331-253AE is 40 x 20 x 15mm, the spacing between the two current carrying cores is 11.3mm, the total length is 11mm, and the outer conductor is tinned copper.

The working principle of the DR331-253AE is relatively simple. When current is fed to the two current carrying cores, the cores form an electromagnetic field, which deflects the current entering into the common mode primary winding, thereby suppressing current noise. At the same time, the varistor core is used to absorb and dissipate any additional EMI signals. In addition, the total inductance and impedance of the DR331-253AE provides a balance between Common Mode and Differential Mode impedance.
