The DRV8821EVM (Evaluation Module) is a low voltage motor control evaluation board designed to evaluate the DRV8821 motor driver. The DRV8821 can control up to 2A peak current and has protection against overcurrent, overtemperature and overvoltage conditions. It has high drive capability up to 30V and provides high resolution up to a 10-bit resolution on the PWM signal.

The DRV8821EVM has four main components: the DC motor, a stepper motor, a microcontroller and an optional drive board. The DRV8821EVM board can connect to either a single DC brushed motor or dual brushless DC motors or a stepper motor. The DC motor can be controlled by varying the duty cycle of the PWM output. The DC motor can be configured for a certain amount of torque and maximum speed.

The stepper motor can be controlled by sending pulses through the Direction and Step pin of the microcontroller.
