The clock generator leverages an advanced 40nm process technology to provide an extremely accurate voltage controlled crystal oscillator (VCXO) with the option to implement a spread-spectrum clock. With simultaneous differential signal outputs and an internal 75-ohm termination network, the DS1080LU+T is designed to provide unparalleled integration, immunity, signal integrity and signal clarity.

The DS1080LU+T is designed with a muliple loop architecture providing programmability to ensure best-in-class output waveforms. The closed-loop control and multi-loop architecture ensure the shortest setup time and minimalphase noise, jitter, and drift. Working Principle

The DS1080LU+T integrated clock generator works on a principle of selecting a low-jitter crystal oscillator (LXO) as the reference frequency and then digitally controlling the frequency deviation. This is accomplished by a digital-controlled oscillator (DCO) structure, which contains an output buffer and various frequency control loops. The DCO generates a signal with a frequency that is dependent on an analog control voltage that is generated from the LXO. The output buffer is used to condition the signal and enable it to drive the load.

In addition to providing frequency accuracy, the DS1080LU+T integrated clock generator also provides tight jitter performance. Jitter is a measure of the time-domain variation of the clock signal, and is typically a function of the frequency accuracy. The embedded jitter-filtering stages of the clock generator perform a maximum-likelihood detection of the singal\'s spectral components and filters out the undesired ones.
