The DS1080LU+ is a high-performance, frequency synthesizing clock generator, offering excellent phase noise performance and low spurious signals over a frequency range of 0.36 to 720 MHz. It is designed to provide superior results in a wide range of clock and timing applications, including base station clock applications, test and measurement equipment, communications systems and a variety of other frequency control applications.

The DS1080LU+ is an extremely versatile and lightweight device, offering very high phase noise performance and low power consumption. It utilizes an on-chip phase-locked loop (PLL) to produce clock frequencies with controlled phase noise. In addition, it is able to generate reference frequencies with the help of an optional phase-locked oscillator (PLO).

The DS1080LU+ contains a variety of components. To generate clock outputs, it utilizes a programmable phase-locked-loop (PLL). The PLL consists of a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO), a phase detector (PD), a clock synthesizer and a charge pump. The clock synthesizer is responsible for creating the clock outputs from the PLL. It is able to generate several clock outputs of varying frequency, including multiple fixed frequency output, multiple spread-spectrum outputs, and several other programmable frequency outputs.

The DS1080LU+ is able to generate clock frequencies of up to 720 MHz. It also contains two low-noise, high-frequency crystal oscillators (XO) to generate reference frequencies with very low phase noise. The XO can produce frequencies ranging from 0.36 to 100 MHz.
