The DS1212+ is a dual stage, 8-bit rate controlled synchronous one-way data FIFO which is deployed in many applications. It is designed to increase the efficiency of the system by enabling up to two processors to communicate through a single synchronous one-way communication interface. This FIFO is designed for use in real-time DVRs, Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) devices, Technical Broadcast, Digital Audio/Video Surveillance applications and other areas. The DS1212+ is available in 20-pin inline packages and is ideal for low-power applications.
Application Field and Working Principle
The DS1212+ FIFO is used in a wide variety of applications. In each application the controller primarily functions as an address translation and frequency conversion device. Depending on the application, the FIFO will provide data synchronization and data buffering capabilities. It also eliminates the need for a large on-chip addressable memory and reduces the number of interconnect pins for communication systems.
The DS1212+ is a dual stage FIFO, which allows the FIFO to both receive and send data from two different sources. For example, data from one system can flow into the FIFO, while data from another system can flow out of the FIFO. This feature is useful for applications such as DVRs, Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) devices and Technical Broadcast. This FIFO also provides synchronization between two systems.
