The DS1284 Real Time Clock (RTC) is a high-precision, low-power device that provides an interface between a microcontroller and an RTC capable of generating accurate time and date calculations. This is very useful in ensuring that alarms are safely triggered at their correct times so that applications relying on timely accuracy are not compromised.
