The DS1629S-C05+ consists of a diode, two MOSFETs, a pair of sense resistors, two thermal resistors and a SiMIS (silicon-on-insulator) substrate. The diode provides an improved power handling capability over traditional insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs) and its thermal characteristics are improved thanks to its low thermal resistance. The MOSFETs are integrated with the device to provide a low-noise, high-current drive. The sense resistors sense the load current to determine when the device is active, while the thermal resistors provide the feedback signal to the MOSFETs to regulate the device’s thermal output.
