DS4000D0N/WBGA is a clock/timing application of programmable timers and oscillators. It operates with an input clock frequency at 10MHz, and outputs equally divided clock count from 0 to 99, each with a frequency of 100kHz. The working principle of DS4000D0N/WBGA is based on counters and oscillators. The incoming 10MHz clock signal is divided into two halves using signals Q_ and Q_/Q. OUT0 is used to receive the divide-by-2 output signal (5 MHz). The 5 MHz clock is then further divided into two times the complete duration of OUT0 using the RESET_ pin. This is called the divide-by-4 operation and it produces the output clock signals of OUT0, OUT1 and OUT2. These output clocks have a frequency of 100kHz, which is the divide-by-2 count of the incoming 10MHz clock signal.

A pulse triggered on the CLK_TRIG pin will cause the counter to reset and reset its count to zero. This will also reset both OUT0 and OUT1 output clocks. This takes place every time the incoming 10MHz clock signal completes 10 periods. The counter then continues to count OUT2 pulses, up to a value of 99, or in other words 95 cycles, before resetting again. This keeps repeating until the DS4000D0N/WBGA is turned off.
