Introduction

DS90C241IVS/NOPB is a quad CMOS differential line-receiver that converts four LVDS (Low Voltage Differential Signaling) inputs to four CMOS/TTL outputs. It supports data rate up to 715Mbps. It is designed to of receive data over balanced transmission lines in environments with high noise immunity. It generally falls into the category of serializers and deserializers (SerDes).

Working principle

The DS90C241IVS/NOPB is designed with a low-power, self-biased receiver circuit optimized for voltage to current-mode receiver operation. It has four sets of LVDS input pins (A0+, A0-, B0+, B0-). Each differential receiver pair is further connected to a receive comparator and descrambler. The converted TTL signals from each of the receiver pins is then routed to the output pins on a single package (Do, D1, D2, D3).The LVDS inputs are designed to work within the voltage range of 1.8V to 3.7V and can operate in two speed modes (375 Mbps and 715 Mbps). It supports programmable pre-emphasis boost that helps in extending the speed range. This can enable the user to optimize the jitter performance and input sensitivity according to their application.The output section of the DS90C241IVS/NOPB is TTL compatible. The user can choose from three output voltage levels of 1.8V, 2.5V and 3.3V. The output skew time between any two channels is controlled to within 200ps maximum, ensuring that all data signals appear simultaneously at all outputs. The integrated termination resistors for the LVDS input are 100ohms to VCC and 185ohms to ground.In summary, DS90C241IVS/NOPB was designed to provide a reliable way of decoupling LVDS inputs to various types of loads.
