Oscillators

Oscillators are electrical circuits that produce repetitive, oscillatory (wave-like) electronic signals. They consist of an electronic device known as a circuit, three main components, an amplifier, a feedback element and an oscillator element. It produces output signals in the form of sine wave, triangle wave, square wave, sawtooth wave, pulse wave or even noise.

The oscillator circuit is utilized in numerous electronic devices such as radio receivers, television receivers, audio amplifiers, clocks, telephones, cellular phones, computers and laboratory instruments. In various applications, oscillator circuits can be used for signal modulation, frequency modulation, waveform generation, frequency synthesizers, clock signal generation, encoding, frequency distribution, and even sound production.

DSC1122BE1-156.2500T application field and working principle

The DSC1122BE1-156.2500T is a very efficient and reliable oscillator which is perfect for applications requiring oscillators with extremely low power consumption. It is designed to operate at a supply voltage of 1.8V or 3.3V. The device consists of a wideband amplifier and a phase-locked loop (PLL). The amplifier sets the oscillator frequency while the PLL locks the oscillation frequency and amplifies it. The oscillator has a range from 25MHz to 156.25MHz and is tuned for the customer’s application.

The application fields for this oscillator are typically in wireless communication, TV tuners, RF test equipment, navigation systems, controller applications, routers/gateways, surveillance systems, automobile systems, and industrial robotics. The typical output frequency can range from 1.8GHz to 4.2GHz.

The working principle of this oscillator is quite simple. When the input signal is applied to the amplifier, the amplifier amplifies the signal and then passes it through the PLL. The PLL filters out any unwanted noise or signal present in the input signal, and then the output signal is generated consisting of sine waves. At the end, the output signal is fed back to the input of the amplifier, thus amplifying and locking the oscillation frequency.

The DSC1122BE1-156.2500T oscillator is built with advanced technology which makes it stand out from other oscillators. It is highly stable and operates with excellent temperature stability.
