Pin configurable/selectable oscillators are electronic components made up of an oscillator and a set of pin-selectable features. The DSC400-1111Q0110KI2T is a type of pin configurable/selectable oscillator that is widely used in applications requiring timing and control. With highly integrated PLL and low-power circuitry, overall power consumption can be greatly reduced. The oscillator includes a single continuous signal output which can be connected to an input pin for certain applications in which the signal is divided into two main parts. An output enable pin is also present which, when set low, will turn off all outputs.The DSC400-1111Q0110KI2T also incorporates various input pins that enable frequency adjustment and allows the user to select a specific frequency range. It also offers support for output signal inversion with TIMINGA/B, OUTINV and OUTEN options. The digital phase-locked loop (DPLL) functionality can accept dual digital inputs and output a frequency-lock with a low jitter digital signal. The oscillator also has a frequency limitation option and a power-down configuration. With the various control pins implemented, the oscillator can easily achieve a wide frequency range and provide a reliable and adjustable clock output.The DSC400-1111Q0110KI2T’s working principle is based on a variable-frequency oscillator, where the output is generally generated using Crystal or MEMS oscillators. The VCO generates a frequency which is compared to the frequency of the reference oscillator. Upon the comparison, the difference between the two signals will create a control voltage to adjust the output frequency of the VCO.The oscillator is then divided in half by a divide-by-two circuit, generating two out-of-phase signals.The DSC400-1111Q0110KI2T is also designed to take advantage of its power conservation features, allowing it to enter “sleep” modes in which the oscillator is reduced to minimal power consumption and released when it is necessary. This gives the oscillator the option to be placed in a low-power state if it is not in operation, thus increasing the battery life of the device. The low-power state can also be set manually by the user, which is quite beneficial in power-sensitive applications.Overall, the DSC400-1111Q0110KI2T is an ideal pin configurable/selectable oscillator for a variety of applications such as data synchronization, communications, automotive electronics, and medical instrumentation.
