Working Principle

The E-L6911E combines a two-stage structure of a Pulse Width Modulation controller and a Dual MOSFET synchronous rectifier to design a buck converter with isolated outputs. Different from the normal buck converter without isolated outputs, this solution only requires one control loop and uses the internal feedback for the SLI management. The controller integrate with a dual-MOSFET synchronous rectifier circuit on each output, allowing for very high efficiency properties. The linear current gain is typically 50 mA/V and Gate Drive current is internally limited to 500 mA peak. It will automatically reduce the forward current and disconnect the MOSFET driver during the Low Power Mode (LPM).

This device also provides the user with pulse-width modulation (PWM) control, which is a technique used to permanently fix the frequency and magnitude of the output of power supplies, if compared to varying-amplitude pulse-width modulation. Input voltage and output current are regulated by PWM application circuit, which has several key components, like an oscillator adjusting the PWM switching frequency, a slave latch comparing the signal that current is OK or not, and the output modulator that make the signal able to be driven through an output terminal. With this IC, the current signal is controlled at pulse-by-pulse to maintain a steady power result.
