Snap action, limit switches are the most commonly used switches in the control system and the best choice for most control applications. An E22-00K switch is a standard snap action, limit switch designed for general purpose use with a typical design life of 50,000 cycles.

E22-00K switches are constructed with either die cast zinc alloy or brass as the main body and are equipped with one or two sets of contacts for a variety of applications. The contacts are solidly mounted, gold plated and provide long lasting reliability. The general specifications of the switch include standard voltage ratings of up to 250VAC/DC and current ratings of up to 18A, with a wide selection of options including mechanical and electrical operation, UL, CSA, and EN approval, termination type, contact type, and contact configuration.

E22-00K switches are primarily used in applications that require mechanical momentary or “snap-action” operation. Typical applications include industrial controls such as conveyors and automobile electronics. The ‘snap’ action refers to the switching mechanism designed to provide a rapid make and breaking of electrical contacts, preventing contacts from "welding" together with extended use. This mechanism involves a bouncing action in which the plunger of the switch moves quickly to either the open or closed position when the user presses or releases the switch. This feature enables the switch to snap open or close quickly and accurately when the user applies a force at the end of the handle.

The contacting components of E22-00K switches are integral parts of the design and provide good service life. These components are connected to terminals and secured both mechanically and electrically. The contact terminals are connected to the body of the switch via flexible or solid insulated wire and are mounted with the necessary pin terminals. The plunger, which acts as the switching mechanism, is connected to the contact frames which are in turn connected to the body and the contact terminals.

The operation of an E22-00K switch involves a plunger that moves in a linear fashion when the handle is activated. A coil spring provides the necessary force to "snap" the contacts open or closed as the plunger moves in either direction. As the plunger moves, internal switching mechanisms create a momentary connection between the two ends of the contact points. Once the large force is applied, the contact points snap open or close and return to the original position. The snap action provided by the E22-00K switch can provide reliable momentary operation with a life expectancy of up to 50,000 cycles.

E22-00K switches are widely used in automation or control systems as well as in electrical, lighting and instrumentation applications. In all these applications, the standard snap action switch is ideal for quick and accurate switching with an extended life. With the flexibility of a range of options, E22-00K switches are an excellent choice for general purpose switching applications.
